Time Warner Sent Me To Collections 2 Days After Final Bill - Billing

After shoddy service and being billed a $20 fee for insufficient funds that was Time Warner's fault, not a lack of funds on my part, I had it.

I spent most of a day trying to get anywhere with Time Warner. They said I had bounced a check, but I hadn't and my bank confirmed. No apologies from Time Warner.

This $20 fee thing is a scam, as it's happened 2x's to my mother-in-law and once to my mom. One time the fee wasn't even returned!

So, I decide to cancel my service. Time Warner is horrible, the service sucks, and now they're charging me for invisible transactions.

Instead of only owing $100 or so, I now owe $200 because of Time Warner not processing my payment correctly.

I head on down to the local office in Indio, CA and return my equipment. No apology, no customer retention attempts, nada.

The customer service rep says it should take 2 weeks to reconcile the final bill, but expect to wait anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. I ask her, is it okay to make payments on my account to keep it in good standing and out of collections. She says yes, as long as I make timely payments and don't drag it out, it's fine.

Before even receiving my final bill, I send in a payment. I think get my final bill which FINALLY has the $20 fee removed. It doesn't show the recent payment I just made. Okay. That's fine. A few days later, I'm hit with a collections notice. Wow. A few days later AND I had made a payment even before I got the final bill. On top of that, the customer service rep said I wouldn't go to collections if I made an attempt at reasonable payments.

Is this how Time Warner treats their customers? My credit report is now ruined by this one flaw. They've made no attempt to apologize or even explain.

How can a business send a customer to collections that made a payment even before they get their final bill and is ready to pay it off? In this economy, why shouldn't you work with customers as long as they are making reasonable payments in a reasonable amount of time.

Now after 2 years of perfect credit, I'm screwed because I have a collections notice on here.

This is not the way to do business. I will not return to Time Warner ever.

In the mean time, I'm going to see if anyone else besides my relatives have been hit with a $20 fee for insufficient funds, when they had money in the bank. Class action lawsuit anyone? Ridiculous.

They are horrendous to their customers. Awful.

Why would you send me to collections, days after the final bill is reconciled and sent to me? Am I suppose to guess as to if you're going to take off that $20 fee?
