I was sold a reconditioned notebook computer on 6/23/04, when I hooked it up, it would not boot and when it did, it would shut down or reboot for no reason. I had them pick it up three times and three times it was returned it to me with the same problems.
So for over two months I have not had 5 minutes use from this machine. Each time it came back the hard drive was reimaged so I would spend hours down loading (dial up) ISP and Microsoft updates only to have it crash again. I am a very small business so I was forced to purchase another notebook. Now the worst part! Every time I call for customer support I end up in India and every time they tell me the problem has been escalated and someone will be contacting you within 24 hours. They tell me this every time I call and I have called every day for two weeks the last time, today 9/1/04 I asked the man what I could possibly do to speak to a person who would at least be honest with me and could do something for me.
He thanked me for being patient, I said please don't thank me, I am anything but patient and that I was fileing this complaint with rip-off, he hung up on me. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company but that is a long drawn out process also. It seems HP uses this India strategy to seperate themselves from the customer.
