Downloadsociety.com
Rip-Off Fraudulent and misleading website Canada

I pride myself on not being one to be ripped off. I guess even the best of us get got. Here's my story. I researched the internet for a program that I could use to download music. I ran across Downloadsociety.com and thought that this was a good deal.

They advertise "Unlimited Music Downloads

Download Society unique files architecture provides easy and simple download of over 7 Million media titles which varies from single music track to complete albums, newer and older movies as well as many useful softwares such as pop-up stopper or spyware remover." This sounded real good to me. Warning bell number 1: I went looking for their rules and regs and could not located them. What can I say the possible availibility of all that music had me whipped. Warning bell number 2: No matter what you click on it leads to the here is how much you have to pay page. Once again I ignorded the obvious.

I paid my 18.95 and downloadsociety sent me a confirmation with a username and pin. I logged in looking for the music and found a lot of programs but no music. The programs are all free or trial versions that can be downloaded free from their respective websites. For the first time did I see their FAQs or site contents. After reading through the FAQs I decided to email the company (their only means of contact). I asked them where is the music I am paying for? Here is the response "In most part, what you are paying for is our File Library located on a offshore server." They go on to say that they provide tech support for those programs that are offered.

When I asked for my money back, here's their response "We would like to remind you that you have paid for unlimited techinical
support and haven't use it yet". Once again they are offering me tech support for free programs. Also they constantly mention that their ruls and regs are available to members in their terms of use. This I would have to say is the biggest problem because members is correct. Members meaning you have to pay before you become a member and see the terms of use. The terms of use should be posted prior to any funds are submitted.

In conclussion, there are a wealth of good music site out there that charge. Downloadsociety.com is not one of them. The site is not honest about it's content until funds are paid then they have their tems of use that tell all.

Don't get ripped off by this company.
