We purchased a new computer with 6 months of free AOL service. March 4, 7:58 AM I called EarthLink (Theodore) to cancel service. Reason given as stated above.
Told our checking account would still be charged for March with no charges after that. Service stopped immediately.
April money taken from our checking account for April Service. Called EarthLink (Jake) who confirmed our service was stopped in March but would not agree to issue credit claiming I gave him the wrong bank account number.
May money taken from our checking account for May Service. Called EarthLink (Malicia - told system was down - hold for Manager as Malicia didn't speak English very well and kept asking me for an apology). Spoke with Tony, the Manager and he too stated the computer system was down. He would confirm what I told him when the system was back up and call me to discuss EarthLink's position. NO CALL BACK
June I received a Bill from EarthLink for Return BD 04/05/04 $21.95 plus Return Item Fee $15.00. It appears they have no intention of complying with legal or moral ethics and I have proceeded to send them our position with copies to our Attorney General, Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission.
In the meantime they have gone from taking unauthorized funds from our checking account to charging us for the return of the unauthorized funds. I've not yet found out if it's been filed with any Credit Reporting Agencies.
