RegSoft aka EasyOffice They charged me for software I never got. Rip-off! Blackmail! Eden Prairie Minnesota, Internet

On the 8th March I placed a software order with Regsoft cost $49.95 by Credit Card. I received an email from Regsoft giving me a tracking number and stating:

Once your credit card is accepted, you will receive an e-mail confirming that your downloadable version of our software is on the way via e-mail. If you do not receive this e-mail your order was not accepted, which means you made an error on the order form and must go back to www.catchcheat.com and place your order again. This time double check that your billing address matches the address your credit statement or debit card statement goes to."

I waited a few days and emailed RegSoft regarding my order and got a copy of an email they sent to the Software Company involved. I was also given a contact email address daniel829@cfl. Rr.com.

I got an email from Daniel asking what the problem was and I replied by requesting an unlock code. I then went over all the (6) emails and noted in RegSoft email that the error could be my fault and reordered the software. The next day I realised my mistake explained this in an email to Daniel and got the following reply...

Wilferd,
Thank you for getting back to us regarding this matter. We never received emails from you regarding your order other than the requested refund. If you contacted us for support we have not received your request and ask that you please send them again, as I don't quite understand your problem from this e-mail.

Also, I assure you that it is quite common practice for software companies not to issue refunds for their products as it would be very easy for someone to purchase the software and place it on their computer, and continue to use the product despite receiving a refund. We do offer replacement of the product if it damaged, or in this case if there is an error with the download.

Under U.S. Law, we are only required to post our no refund policy before purchase, it is posted in different locations on the site, including twice on the order page before purchase. I do not know the laws in other countries, however generally the governing law on these types of policies in the country where the company is located physically.

I sent further emails to Daniel making a total of 8 but I did not get a reply. I check my credit card account and found I was charged twice for the same software and yet no unlock code.

I then contacted my Lawyer and credit card company for help. The Credit Card Company has refunded my money while investigation is on going. To make things even worse I placed an order for software and Regsoft has blocked my payment. I wrote to Regsoft and explained my case and got the following reply

Dear Wilf,

I'm sorry sir, but regardless of the reason, your order was charged back. Due to this we will not except any further orders from you. You can have the situation corrected by reversing the chargeback with your
credit card issuer, and they will need to fax the proof of the reversal to us. We can then process any orders you may want to place.

I consider this a form of blackmail either I go back and pay for software I cannot use or I will not be able to order other software.
