Roboform Free Upgrade Promise - BROKEN!

Roboform, aka Siber Systems refuses to honor their free upgrade promises that were in place when I and thousands of others purchased their software. This 2008 Roboform Website screenshot proves that this upgrade policy was in place, and Roboform has acknowledged in their support comments (below) that I purchased prior to the 2010 policy change, while the free upgrade policy was in effect.

Siber Systems ramped up a large customer base to secure market share with special offers and is now reneging on those offers in an attempt to rape the very customers that have gotten them to where they are.

Many other people have been affected by this rip-off, some of which can be read about here and here.

I have given Roboform/Siber every attempt to correct this problem. But honestly. They shouldn't just correct it for me, a single customer. They should honor their free upgrade commitments to ALL customers who purchased while those policies were in place.

My Support Conversation with Siber is below. PLEASE SIBER DO THE RIGHT THING!

I'm sorry this is not what was promised me. I was promised free upgrades. Not just ONE year of free upgrades! This would mean that over the next 5 years my cost for my 10 employees to use Roboform would be $400 when the original agreement was FREE.

I notice that not once have you refuted that when I bought this free software upgrades were promised. That's good. Because I have screenshots!

You may think that because the amount of money here is small that your customer base will just roll over. Sorry. Unethical is unethical. I won't do business with dishonest companies. I've tried to give you every opportunity to do the right thing.

Thank you for your message. We are sorry, but we cannot convert your licenses from version 6 to version 7. We can give you one year of RoboForm Everywhere for free.

Did anybody read my email?

When i purchased roboform it was advertised that i would receive upgrades for free. No mention was made of major or minor versions. I have screenshots to support this statement.

Version 6 doesn't work with my browser. I know that I can hack it a little to fix that... But I shouldn't have to. You expect me to stay on an old browser for the rest of my life when you've TOLD me you'll give me free upgrades???

Please don't send me a form response. I've read your policies on your website. I understand everything that you've sent me below. The QUESTION I'd like you to answer is... Do you realize that you're breaking your own word?

I'm trying to give you the benefit of the doubt and hoping that you made an honest mistake and will fix it. If not, I'll have to conclude that you guys are intentionally breaking your word to me... And quite simply my company won't do business with someone like that and I'll make sure as few other companies as possible do as well.

Please confirm... You're intentionally violating your own advertised word to me when I bought this product?

Kate replied (09/30 04:35 am EDT): Thank you for your message. Our records show that you currently have a RoboForm/RoboForm2Go 6 Pro license.in order to use RoboForm 7, you'll need to purchase an upgrade if you purchased your license before Sept. 1.

We offer existing RoboForm 6 customers two upgrade options.

*Upgrade Options* You can upgrade to RoboForm 7 Desktop or RoboForm2Go 7 licenses and receive discounted upgrade pricing. OR You can upgrade to our new RoboForm Everywhere license. RoboForm Everywhere allows you to install RoboForm and RoboForm2Go on all your computers (up to 9) and mobile devices and automatically keep your RoboForm data in sync between all of them.

Download the latest RoboForm v6 from here:

Please remember that the final RoboForm 6 update was released in December and is not compatible with the latest browsers, such as Firefox 4 and later releases, Google Chrome, AOL 9.6, etc.

The format of your RoboForm data is compatible between RoboForm 6 and 7, so if at any time you wish to upgrade to RoboForm 7, you data will automatically transition between versions.

When I purchased Roboform as well as selected it over Lastpass for my company I did so on the clear, documented basis, that upgrades were free. Am I reading this correctly... That Roboform has retroactively changed the license agreement that I purchased under such that these promised upgrades are not free?

I recently was quite annoyed when: I was nicely offered an opportunity to upgrade to v7. I did this without reading all the FAQs Yes I trusted Roboform. I have for years.

After 30 days my v7 suddenly stopped working! What a pain! No countdown... Just working at my job and FULL STOP.

After research time discovered that my lifetime upgrade that I'd purchased RF on the basis of had been stolen!

And Siber now wants $ every year!

VERY upset at this. But decided to take the time to downgrade.

Found that after taking the time to downgrade to v6 that it wont work with Firefox 6 (or 5 or 4)!!

What's happened to Siber Systems? I loved you guys and passed you to all my friends!!!
