Back on 05-04, I renewed my rapidshare account because their process had dropped from what most believe was a attempt to get customers back from a new billing system which caused many including myself to drop their service. The website stated that by purchasing 2000 rapids I would be good for 4 months at 495 rapids per month for service and after the payment went through I saw I was in service until Sept. 11th.
Just this morning I received an email notice stating that I only had 5 days remaining on my account - that is until July 3rd. I have since logged in to check the billing and noticed they have started deducting 990 rapids per month rather than my advertised 495. I did not receive any notice that the rates were doubling with no additional benefits.
I have contacted rapidshare and expect a generic response as I have gotten before last time this happened, but I still want to voice my experience and how i have been ripped off. This is now the second time I have been ripped off by this company luring customers in with low rates - making you buy in bulk to maintain a low rate - and then jacking the rates up.
To put this into perspective, rates for rapids has not changed, but back a year ago it was 99 rapids a month.
