On January 7 we contacted John Rinck who was suggested by a person selling their website. John wrote us an email stating he could complete the website in 66 hours or less with no problem at $50 per hour and $3300 budget. He was sent the only copy of the website software on a CD by the former owners of the website.
John completed nothing promised. He sent a "mock up" website that frankly, was laughable. John told us that the job was already over budget, yet nothing had been accomplished! We terminated him on Feb. 22 and told him that we would pay him an additional $500 for his time. We had already paid him a $500 deposit retainer. We also wanted the CD copy of our website so we could hire someone else possibly.
He wanted the full payment of $1750, so after fussing, I sent the money expecting to get the website software in the mail a few days later. We paid $4500 for the website. $6700 total.
2 months and several email pleads later - It is now April 22 and we still have not received the website software to give to another programmer. We can't continue the business without this vital software.
We are out $4500 for the website software

Plus fees we have incurred retaining other programmers.
