I purchased a gateway computer on 5/01 the computer was priced at $999.00 I paid $200 up front leaving me a balance of $799.00. After fatefully paying my bill every month. I noticed they would show late charges on my balance. When I was not late.
The bill had always been in disputed from day one always trying to cheat me on my payment. I had tried everything to try and get them to see that it did not take a rocket scientist to figure out that I had already paid $1900 for a $999.00
That was actually worth no more then 300.00 dollars after looking in to the computer because of numerous problems I was having. I found that they sent me a refurbished computer instead of a brand new one!
Later on I was hurt in a oilfield accident in 2003 and was out of work for two months. I had insurance on my computer (which was a real piece of sh... Junk!
I called gateway and told them I was injured on the job and needed my insurance to kick in they agreed. This accident happen almost 8 months ago and today Feb. 2nd 2004 I received a noticed saying that they paid 108.00 on my balance. While Late charges had been adding up.
At one time they took it upon themselves to start taking money from my bank account for the computer. All unauthorized! Something needs to be done about what is going on. I feel like maybe we can find a lawyer to help us all solve this matter. Search for one that might handle this matter. There has got to be some kind of law against this.
The moral to this story is. I bought a computer from gateway for $999.00 4 years later they are saying I still owe 3000.00 yes no mistake that is three thousand dollars for a 999.00 computer. That I thought was new that was actually a refurbished computer! I have already paid over 2000.00 to try and keep my credit in good standing. So when it is all said and done I will be giving them over 6 thousand for a 999.00 computer! And that is IF they get their 3 thousand by the end of this month if not it keeps adding up! There is something very wrong here!
This is an unbelievable nightmare. This can not be American and to think of all the people that have there credit ruined because of gateways fraudulent way of business I have all documentations to all of this statement. Monies paid etc. Anyone else with similar problem contact me through the rebuttal key.in the mean time I'm looking for a Lawyer to look into this.
