Bill signed a contract, agreeing to pay over $20,000 for the brokering and use of a legitimate company's RIPE IP addresses.
After several months of non-payment, he hacked into the account and used the IPs without authorization or approval - sending out SPAM.
So much SPAM was sent that it effectively ruined the company's goodwill and ability to utilize the IPs for their own use. The IPs were blackballed by Spamhaus and the company and its officers could not renew their RIPE account because of the SPAM.
