Biltmore Who's Who
Cambridge Who's Who Email invitation

I received an invitation to join the "who's who" publication for free via an email address I've used for many years. There were no company identifiers or names used. Just the application and a reply button. I was a bit leery, but I thought it would at least get me some info about the company. Even though I was contacted via a personal email account, I completed the application using only my business information.

Today, I was contacted by phone at work, and proceeded through the personal nterview needed to finalize my "acceptance". Working through her speel very quickly, the rep moved into the finances of the membership. I was confused, but still alert enough to not fall into this trap.

I nicely told her I was not comfortable providing any credit card info until I had done my opne background check. I asked for a call back number and she did provide me that, along with the comment that she will be very hard to reach as she will be on other 'interviews' all day. We left it at her calling me back tomorrow at a specified time.

I am quite pleased to find others who've been through this scam and thankful being poor and broke actually has a benefit - no spare money to throw around and waste!

Most of the reports centered on a letter received via typical snail mail. My only contact had been via an email solicitation. They may be changing their methods of recruitment, so be aware.
