I was on some website and accidentally clicked something. The next thing I knew, I had Mighty Max on my computer doing a scan. It was a new computer so I stopped it and removed it or so I thought. I started having two different pops up from Mighty Max telling me 1) it had detected conflicts and 2) I had 141 warnings. I tried to remove it again to no avail. I contacted Mighty Max and they took their time responding and then gave instructions on how to remove it that were useless. They give absolutely no one's name, their address, phone #, etc when emailing. There are also two ever present icons in my toolbar that urge me to go to the Mighty Max website whenever I click it.
I consider myself half-way computer savvy and I have looked and looked for the program or files causing those pop ups and I just can't find it. They have cleverly disguised it and must be trying to force the consumer to purchase the software to get the pop ups to stop which I consider ransom.
When in the middle of a task the pop ups start and cause my programs to lock up or abort. Tasks that should take no time take forever due to the constant pop ups which are approximately five minutes apart - popup one then popup two. The below link tells how to remove it and it also lists a lot of users with the same experience as I have had.
