Apparently Warranty Service Contract Is Subject To Interpretation by Service Tech

I had a problem with my laptop and called the number on my extended warranty. The tech told me I was lying about an extended warranty, and I told him I was holding the confirmation email in my hand and read him the email address of the person that sent it to me at HP, and he still didn't believe me. Eventually he called the warranty department and found out someone had messed up a digit on the warranty number. He of course did not apologize for saying I was lying, he just they messed up so it wasn't his fault. Having got though that he then said I would have to send my computer in. I read him the statement on the warranty that said, and I quote: "HP House Call — Enjoy the comfort of knowing an HP technician will come right to your door, if needed." He said it didn't matter, I still had to send it it in. Apparently the "if needed" part means if the technician decides he needs to come to your house, and course, there isn't any situation in which that will happen. Either that, or the technician gets to interpret the any way he wishes.

I sent a snail mail letter to the President of HP about this, hoping to at least get an apology, but this is over a month later and nothing. I guess this is an HP company policy to rip people off on their extended warranty that goes all the way up to the President.
