I ordered a violin on ebay on August 7th. I paid $29.95 for the violin, and was shocked when I received an email that shipping was $30. Needing the violin, I paid the $59.95 total. I was a bit weary about buying the vioin online, but felt reasured by the 100% "no questions asked" guaruntee.
The violin arrived friday afternoon, August 15th, and upon opening the package, I noticed that that the bridge was not in the package. This is a vital piece, and you can not operate the violin with out it. I also noticed that it was missing 1 fine tuner knob. It was too late to call BizBuilders, so I waited through the weekend and called first thing monday morning. When I was put through to voice mail, I left a message stating the problem.
When I received a return phone call from George Massalas, CEO of Biz Builders. I re-explained the problem, and he stated that it was an "impossibility" that I received the violin with missing parts. He stated that each instrument is checked before leaving the wharehouse. I explained that there is no way the pieces came with the violin as I looked through every thing when I received it. I asked about the 100%, no questions asked guarantee, and he said, "You should have read the fine print" He stated that I could not return the instrument as it is damaged and the guarantee does not include damaged instruments.
I was outraged, and thought perhaps he misunderstood the situation, as the instrument arrived in that condition. I began to repeat myself, and he cut me off and told me that I was out of luck. I told him that I would report him to the BBB and ripp-off report, and he just laughed at me and hung up. He then proceeded to leave me a nasty, negative feedback comment on my ebay ID, which is permenant and public.
Let this be a warning to any one on buying anyting from George Massalas or BizBuilders.com...
