July 24 took my computer that I purchased from Fry's along with two year Fry's performance guarantee, in for repair. They found the processor was bad and had to replace the motherboard.

I was told by the service tech on July 25 Sherrel Tarrel, that they only had a different motherboard that had a faster processor but only one memory bay. I asked if it was a 133mhz bus memory board because I had a 256mb 133mhz bus memory chip to replace the 128mb 133mhz bus memory chip. She said yes and that is what I understood it was. I was OK with that and instructed her to continue.

On July 27 at around 6:30pm I picked up my computer and went to my sister's. While there I opened the computer to take a look at the motherboard that was replaced and found out it runs a 266mhz bus. This means she lied to me and she had to replace the memory chip to a 128mb 266mhz bus memory.

At around 12:30am I went home and proceded to install all necessary updates from Microsoft.install Office 97, internet explorer, netscape, realplayer, etc... Until 6:30am and while I sleep, I left the computer on while Microsoft finished some new updates.

At 11:30am when I awoke, it was done and I rebooted the computer. When it booted up it gave me a windows protection error. I shut it down and rebooted it again with the same results. I called Fry's and was instructed to bring my computer in.

At 2:45pm on July 28 I returned my computer complaining of the windows protection error and memory problem.

On July 29 I called at around 5:30pm and was informed Sherrel has not looked at it yet. I informed the person on the phone to make sure to check the memory.

On July 30 I called and spoke with Sherrel and was informed she hadn't worked on it yet and that I should take it home and reformat the hardrive to get rid of the windows protection error. I told her about the call last night and was informed she has no record of it. I then asked her to check the memory because in the window system file it reads 64mb instead of 128mb. I was told that because of the video it read different.

Sherrel called back and left three messages with the last one flat out accussing me of switching the memory chips and trying to rip them off.

I called her back and informed her that she was wrong and asked her when would I have time when I picked up my computer at 6:. 30pm didn't finish installing the operating system and other software, sleeped, and returned the computer to them at 2:45pm the next day. Since I already had a 128mb 266mhz memory chip, what would I gain by purchasing another 128mb 266mhz memory chip only to find out it was bad then to replace it in the only memory slot on the motherboard where the so called good 128mb 266mhz memory chip was to say that it didn't work. I was referred to her supervisor who never answered the phone.

On July 31 I called and left a message for the store manager, Steve Bratt. He didn't return my call.

On August 1 I called and spoke with Bud, requesting the store manager who of course wasn't available. I drove from Long Beach to Manhattan Beach and stood there for about 10 minutes until I stop a manager who would help me.

His name was Ed Tacug and I explained to him the information that Sherrel was told and while he investigated Sherrel told me I was a Liar. Then they brought out a chip I never seen before and that they apparently didn't sell. Then Ruben Aguilar not only made the incenuation that I was lying but that I was stupid and a thief. Ed then included Steve Bratt and Ruben Aguilar in a conversation. They ended it by requesting that I go home and look to see if I had the other chip laying around.

Like I was going to gain something? The computer now has "Only ONE Memory Slot". They gave me a 128mb 266mhz bus memory chip. What on God's creation would make them think that I rushed out and purchased another one that was bad only to return the computer I just got back and to gain a memory chip I already had and for which I have no room on my motherboard?
