Below is a letter we sent to the credit card company regarding this fraudulent charge by this deceptive company
To Whom It May Concern;
I spoke with Bridgett today 6-24-03 at aprx 10;15 am ct. And explained to her we did not authorize this $35 charge to our account.
First of all I was told that the business part of this call was being recorded and if your credit card company would hear what was said you would agree this was fraud. I was never told there was a three minute minimum. That is why I was on for less than a minute to tell my family the plane would be four hours late. I asked what the charge was and was told it was $2.00 per minute. I was also told I am only "being charged for the time I use."
I specifically asked "if there was any kind of fees" and was told that "I only would pay for the minutes that I use." Therefore they lied twice, regarding a surcharge and a 3 minute minimum.
If I would have known about the real charge for this call there is no way I would have even made this call. It was not a life and death situation. Only an idiot would authorize a $35 charge for a minute phone call. This company has a toll free number listed on the pay phone (0800-900-570) which is impossible to connect except at those pay phones. I called on the return flight home to question the charge and was told then that the per minute charge was $4.50 and again did not mention the 3 minute min. Nor the surcharge. I asked to speak with a manager to question the initial call and wouldn't give his name or the name of the company the manager was on a break. He was very evasive with any information about the company. An hour later I tried again and was given the same run around about the manager not being around.
I had asked specific questions regarding per minute charge and fees and was lied too, therefore this whole transaction was unauthorized and fraudulent. I should only have to pay for one minute usage and no more (no surcharge fee or minimum minutes). Ask to listen to the tape and you will hear what I was told. If your company rules against us, cancel our credit card with your company. Your company should protect the consumer against companies like this.
