Why must AT&T Rip Off United States Soldiers? Worldwide

I have been deployed to Iraq now for about 4 months. AT&T has the phone contract for us to call home to our families. Well when we first arrived in country we were able to get a minute for minute rate on our prepaid calling card by connecting with an operator, having them connect us to our specified pre-paid card (i.E. Walmart, Sam's Club) and then the operator from there would place the call and we would get minute for minute on the call. Well now the operators will no longer connect us to the prepaid card operators and they tell us that we can call them ourselves from the AT&T phones installed here.

LIARS, we can not call our customer service. The only number we can call is the 800 number to place a call out. When we dial that direct we get raped on rates. If we purchase a 1200 minute phone card, it is only good for 120 mintes, same for a 120 minute card, it is only good for 12 minutes. There is one other numbr we can dial and that is 1 888 SALUTE 2. This is where we are talking to the operators that will no longer connect us to the prepaid customer service.

I somehow got one to do it about a week ago, only once though, and now the prepaid customer service has an automated calling system for us to use and we get minute for minute on that. Now the funny thing is that I used to tell the AT&T operators that I could not dial the 800 number just to place a call in hopes they would connect me to the prepaid customer serice for my card. Well they would have me push the number 2 on the phone and they told me that I could call that number just fine from the phone I was on, busted right? No biggie, now when I asked them to check if I could dial the customer service number for my card by pushing that number 2, they told me they can't do that.

Bottom line we are getting ripped of bad by them. They are telling us we can dial our own customer service numbers and we can't. It is nice to see that we as soldiers are getting such great support from the AT&T company. I ask that anyone that reads this drop there service and spread the word. We are lied to repeatedly from them and when the operators can't answer a question they hang up on us. We are just trying to talk to our families to boost morale and relieve stress. I thank anyone for their support in this matter.
