(Max Kilman) rebate ripoff

I purchased a model #RW5252 Buslink CD-RW drive on April 6, and sent in all required rebate paperwork the next day. This was for a $20 rebate.

After eight weeks without receiving the $20 rebate check, I called and spoke with a woman who assured me my paperwork had been received, that it was all in order, and that my rebate would arrive in the next few days.

A week later I tried inquiring via Buslink's rebate webform, and received an autoreply asking what department I sent the paperwork to. I replied that my copy, made from a difficult-to-read recipt on a thermal fax machine, wasn't legible, but I provided all the information listed on the store receipt (Circuit City) and the drive itself. (I also mentioned that Buslink had already confirmed receipt of the paperwork, so any problem with it had to have occurred at their end.)

Buslink continues to autoreply with the same question, regardless of how I frame my questions and answers.

When I call the company, I'm either shunted to various voicemail inboxes, and receive no replies, or am stuck speaking with a very rude receptionist who claims she's "not permitted to leave her desk" (!) in order to find anyone who might help. She said the person I must speak with is Max Kilman, but he doesn't reply to emails nor phone messages, and, according to the receptionist, "is never in the office."
