I worked for I-Fortuity as a sales representitive in 2007. It was my job to contact people searching for an online, home-based, "business opportunity". It was usually done via e-mail blasts nationwide.
These leads were doled out to the 30 or so sales reps, both day shift and evening shift. It was their job to contact each lead, breifly explain the opportunity they were inquiring about, then have them listen to a recorded messege (5 minutes in length) by the President of I-Fortuity. At that time he was going by the name of Timothy Richards. This was his psuedonym name.
Once the recording was ended, the sales people would be back on the phone with the potential client. Once the sales rep got to a specific point in the presentation, it was then T. O'd, or turned over to a closer who then proceeded to brow beat that customer out of their credit card for $99, (silver pkg.), $299 (gold pkg) and $499.
Tim Richards (?) was the phone room manager, and President of the company. The turnover with that phone room was absolutely incredible! Richards would intimidate, ridicule, pressure, criticize, and actually tell people to go home and change their clothes if they wanted to work there. All the while wearing his holey jeans.
Phoenix is the the capitol of these home-based business opportunity scams. There are dozens of them in that city. Most employees simply move from one to the other, always looking for an easier scam to make bigger commissions.
Unless these potential business opportunity seekers has any business savvy, or computer finesse, they are doomed to fail. All these clients got was a web page, a sub domain name, and no customer service support.
Once the client signed on board, the web-page, (not a web site) was created, it was Tim Richards responsibility to contact each one and pitch them on the Pay-Per-Click marketing program. That included an additional $5,000.00 to $30,000.00 additional investment to market the website to drive traffic to the website where people would sign up for the VOIP servive. The Bus. Op owner would then receive 3%, 6% or 10% depending on which level they chose to start. 99,299 or 499. If they didn't invest more, that web page was doomed to fail because it had no marketing.
Its a great product. It works. VOIP is huge with Vonage, Skype, etc... Whoever heard of I-Fortuity?
I can only feel sorry for the employees that work there. Good luck to you with any of your future endeavors. I chose to walk out while being criticized in front of the entire sales force. No one can wok in an enviroment like that, especially with Tim Richards running the show. He's a real phoney.
