Like many others, I have become a victim of 1&1 Internet, Inc's fraudulent billing practices. When my registered domains came up for renewal in April of 1&1 says their attempt to charge my credit card for the renewal fees failed. They did not notify me by email, phone, or regular mail and none of those addresses and numbers have changed in many years.
My first indication of a problem was the receipt in August of two notices from 1&1's collection agency, NCO Financial Systems. One was for the renewal fees, which I am not contesting and which I would have gladly paid if 1&1 had informed me of the problem, if in fact there really was a problem. The second notice was for the imposition of a disconnect fee, a sum greater than the original charges.
I view this whole scam as extortion. The risk of damage to my credit rating makes it almost impossible not to pay both fees. I have done so and am now turning to every agency with authority and every website I can find to spread the word about these underhanded scumbags.
