Attemted to overcharge for repair, then when I refused, dropped price and did shoddy jo

This is my experience with this company on laptop repair:

I was very impressed with their website, the price of diagnoses, and the reviews, soooo...

I dropped my computer off on a Friday morning in May about 10:00 A.M. And was told I would get a call in 24-36 hours. I certainly didn't expect a call on Saturday since they were only open until 1 pm. I was expecting a call on Monday however and did not get one. I called Tuesday around lunch and was told someone would call me back. I did not receive a call back and so I called again Tuesday late-afternoon. I was told the tech was looking at it and would receive a call in the morning. No call Wed. Morning.

I called Wednesday afternoon and was scared to. I had a right to be. I was told that all kinds of stuff needed to be replaced and that it would be over $600 to fix. I said never mind, I would pick it up and pay the diagnostic fee. Within 10 minutes I got a call back and was told that she had "looked at the wrong ticket" and that it could be fixed for $196. I was relieved and came and picked it up the next day, a happy customer despite my experience the past several days.

Now, less than two months later, my laptop is experiencing the exact same problem I took it to get repaired for. I contacted Atiwa and was told that since my computer had liquid damage, there was no warranty on the repair and that this was stated on the receipt. I told them that yes, I did see this on the receipt, but I was not told that I was getting a repair that was not being guaranteed prior to them fixing it and that it was not good business to put this on the receipt after the repair was completed and simply "rigged" to work short term. I also made it clear had I known that this would have been a temporary fix, I would have simply saved the $200 and saved up another $200 and bought a new laptop.

I hope I can help steer others away from this company if you need a laptop repair. I could have easily have fallen for the original $600 quote if I had the money and had a $2000 laptop, but neither were the case. Unfortunately it has taken me almost a half hour to write this even though I type 65 words a minute. I keep having to manuever the laptop in different positions for it to work!: (
