My June telephone bill contained a a $12.95 charge for a FAMILYCONTACT911.com set up fee. I had never heard of this company and no one in my family had authorized this charge.
I contacted the number on statement, an ILD Teleservices who claimed they were only the billing company. They claimed Family Contact was a "very fine company" but could not tell me what service they provided! I stated that I had not authorized this charge and wanted it credited immediately and whatever "very fine", yet unknown service they were charging me for was to be canceled immediately.
Sure enough, my July statement arrived and not only was there no credit, a charged another $12.95 (plus tax). AT&T claims they can not credit me since this is a third party billing. ILD has assured me, once again that they will credit my account and cancel this "service".
We will see.
