I received a bill from Alyon Technologies for almost $500 plus phone bill charges of approximately $100 for accessing an adult website I never intentionally accessed. I discovered later, an illegal dialer software device was planted on my desktop which, when clicked by me unknowingly, disconnected my computer from my server and re-connected me to another phone number in Union City N.J.
No indication this was happening was displayed. The "billing charges" evidently took place while my computer was left on and unattended, completely without my knowledge. The bill which I received a week later warned me that I was seriously delinquent in my payment, and that several attempts to contact me had been made. It also included threats to refer this "account" to a collection agency and that my credit rating was in jeopardy.
According to my research, a legal dialer must not only clearly state the connection fees before dialing, but must display the current fee until disconnection takes place.
So far, my local phone company has refused to eliminate the access charges from my phone bill. I am not paying the bill from Alyon.
