Alyon Technologies is a (censored) and I didn't even know it was happening. I recieved a bill from them in the amount of $88.02 for "premium web content-adult-alt". I have visited adult web sights (I will not lie about that) but this one downloaded a dialer to my computer that took over the phone line at the same time. I did not agree to a download of a dialer. Most web sights want a credit card number for payment and ID, or so I thought!
I recieved a bill from Alyon Tech. Through the US postal service dated 4-06-03 for the adult service dated 3-23-03 for 18 minutes at $4.99 a min. There is no indecation of what the sight was and I have requested this information from them via e-mail and they will not give me that information. Also they will not tell me what service was provided for that bill. I have e-mailed them 5 times and they will not answer my questions. This alone tells me that there is a porblem here. I also responded to the bill by US Mail requesting this information, again no responce. I told them I want to know because I don't want this to happen again.
Yesterday (May 29th) recieved a phone bill through vorizon
with an attached bill from USP&C for $109.78 for a 900 call on Jan, 30th 2003 (which does not show up on my unwanted account with alyon, just the 3-23-03 date is on there file). I called verizon and requested the bill to be removed. I also called USP&C to make sure that this was taken care of. They did remove the bill for me thank god! I also asked the rep if they knew about the problems with Alyon tech and she said "yes". I asked if I could speak with someone to lodge a complaint and she said "no" and that this problem was already being investaged. I requested a 900 block on my line and she took care of that, as verizon did also for me. But this will not stop the problem because the access is after I log on to my server anyway. I called my net provider and told a rep this and he agreed with me that the 900 block would not do any good.
I then searched the web for info on Alyon and got lots of info about all the other people having the same problem. Through the search I found out that is was do to a dialer that was down loaded without my concent and how to find and un-install it.
I found the dialer in my files and un-instaled it but I don't know how it happend in the first place. It could happen again.
That is why I requested this info from Alyon. I get no answers for this question. I figured that I would make sure not access any adult sights so this can not happen again. From reading other reports on the net with this problem I found out that people who don't access adult sights had it happen to them anyway! Granted many searches that have no intent of finding adult sights end up with adult sights anyway. So how can we stop this?
I refuse to pay any bill from alyon but what about my phone bill?
USP&C stated that they would do this only one time.
These people need to shut down. I will do all I can to see that they get shut down!
