Ripped off, charged for equipment I did not have, nor did I EVER have Vancouver washington

I had Comcast cable for awhile and then tried bundling to get there wireless internet service. They sold me a self install kit, or sent me the self install kit, regardless it was SELF INSTALL which meant I didn't have ANY of their equipment except the cable TELEVISION boxes. I bought a wireless router from a private retailer, Walmart or Office depot, one of those but i did NOT get the router from Comcast. When I could not longer afford the cable or the internet, plus the bundle prices weren't a deal. I returned the cable boxes and I vaguely recall the customer service person warning me to hold onto my receipts to PROVE i'd returned the boxes because the company was notorious for claiming people don't return equiment - because then it becomes your word against the big bad business. Who do you think will be believed when they decide they want MORE of my money and out of the blue say I owe them for a wireless router that I NEVER had! I disputed the charges but I had nothing in writing to prove I returned a router because i never had a router of theirs to begin with. I was screwed. They wanted over $400 for this piece of equipment. I refused to pay so they sent my bill to a collection agency. I disputed the bill and collections agencies are SUPPOSED to respond to disputes by providing proof of debt, etc.instead of responding they took it to the next level, which is going against the fair debt collections practices act. (FDCPA) I wrote letters to the better business bureau but nothing ever happened except they're STILL trying to charge me and the debt is sitting on my credit. Comcast can just decide you have something that you DON'T and charge you and you can't do anything about it because they are a big business and we are just the single humans that can't prove either way that they never gave me a router. I even said come to my house and look at my equipment, the serial number would obviously come back to the router i bought from the store and had nothing to do with Comcast. It's a consumers responsibility to PROVE or question bills, though I can't get anyone to validate their LIES in stating I have their equipment, they won't respond but they continue to demand I repay them $400 for their wireless router that i NEVER had... It's very frustrating.

I had similar experiences with Quest Phone and the only way I was able to get those charges reversed was that they charged me for a modem for TWO YEARS until I finally noticed it on my bill but because they dont offer the DSL service they couldn't get away with charging me though they sure TRIED. I have to wait two months for my refund but they won't send it to me, they will only "credit" my account which is ridiculous because I paid them all those months (two years actually) for something they never gave me so technically they should refund my money in a check. That will be under the "QUEST" ripoff report... Beware of large communications companies, they can do whatever they want and get away with its... It's not fair...
