I purchased a guitar from Peggy Lynn for $350. I sent her $500 for the guitar to pay for the shipping costs and to insure the instrument for $1,000. I wanted $1,000 in insurance because it was a nice guitar and I knew that if anything happened to it, I would not be able to replace it for $350. The instrument arrived to me via UPS, damaged. I called UPS, arranged for a pick up of the damaged guitar and filed a claim for damages. I notified Peggy of the problem and that I had filed the insurance claim and that she should be watching for it. I was told by UPS that the check would be made payable to Peggy Lynn even though I paid for the insurance because she was the one to bring the guitar into the UPS STORE and so was considered the shipper. I advised Peggy of this and she assured me that she would be watching for the check. She then stopped communicating with me. I only found out that the check had arrived at the UPS STORE in Rancho Cucamonga by calling them. They told
Upon contacting her again about sending me the check, she told me that she considered the check to be hers since her name was on it and that she would send back to me the original $500. She did send back the original $500 that I paid to her. Some would ask what I have to complain about since she reimbursed the original $500. I would say that it was my money that she used to pay for the shipping and insuring of the guitar, the check should have been turned over to me.
Further, I have all email correspondence regarding this transaction from start to last including her emails to me stating that she would be on the lookout for the check. The money became more important to her than what was right. Be careful when shipping and insuring. Do not trust anybody. Peggy took advantage of the situation and was rewarded handsomely doing nothing. After a great deal of effort, I was left at square one.
