Recertified means refurbished Plano Texas

I bought a Lacie 1TB external hard drive from eCost. Went bad after about 10 months of intermittent use. When I reported to Lacie for repair under warrenty they told me it was refurbished. I would never buy a refurbished hard drive. But when I went back to eCost and called them they explained what recertified meant. I never saw that as it is pretty small letters. Yes, my fault probably, but I feel I was misled. Just be careful with eCost
