Ebay, PayPal, Ties Up Funds in Accounts

Being a seller on eBay these days is a hazardous endeavor. I had various used software from my old computer that I was trying to sell at auction on eBay. I had applied for transfers of ownership from the software companies, and made sure everything was straight and legal about this process. I believe that my written complaint to eBay about the lack of ability for sellers to provide negative feedback to buyers had something to do with this problem, but of course I could be wrong. It just seemed everything was fine up to that point, and then they started harassing me. They locked up my PayPal account, and even though there were no negative feedbacks against me (but I had two non-paying bidders at that time), and when one auction was finished, and payment of $177.50 received from buyer - they locked the funds to my Paypal account, and then buyer accused me of being a fraud.

My Paypal account was opened in and had 31 verified transactions, with no complaints. Her Paypal account was new and unverified. I offered her to pay by money order, because there was no way I was going to send the software (Studio 8) to her without funds. It got nasty from there, and she gave me negative feedback, and saying I was insisting on her paying by mo, when all I did was offer a way for her to receive the item. Software is too easily copied, and then complained against, and the buyer gets the software free, and then perhaps resells it on eBay. I knew of this trick that buyers sometimes do, and therefore was not going to be a party of that type of thing, and placed "no returns of software" on the auctions.

Well, it has gotten worse than this. EBay/Paypal tried to extract funds from my credit card registered on Paypal, and locked my Paypal account against closing it. I immediately closed my credit card account before they could take an unknown quantity of money from that account. This credit card account was paid off, so therefore had a large limit of funds available, and we couldn't take a chance with that. I lucked out with this part of it, but it could and would have gotten very nasty if the "purchase verification" had gone through in the Paypal account. Even the bank credit card company told me they knew I had never charged anything through my Paypal account, and no record of ever doing that at all, so why all of a sudden when trying to close the account was there a "purchase verification" going through my credit card? I had always used the available funds in the Paypal account for purchases, and auctions.

Beware of eBay, and Paypal, because they can do anything they want with your money, for no reason, or even a made-up reason. They have no scruples at all.
