After verticle lines started to appear on my Inspiron 9300 I went to Dell's forums and found that it is a known defect in the screens, however Dell refuse to even acknowledge the defect.
Trying to get help from customer service is like waiting for the moon to change. After so many complaints Dell finally admitted the screens had problems, however refused to replace them after the warrenty ran out.
When you purchase a computer that cost in excess of $1200 you expect it to last longer than 3 years.
