Shalom! I entered contests on Poetry.com in December last year, and now I' m very glad I found your site! After reading your report, I nearly had a heart attack!
Just last week I was elated to find that I was chosen as EDITOR'S CHOICE for MAY! They sent a beautiful piece of paper, top half a letter, and the bottom is a "certificate". The second piece of mail was (no surprise right) a PC generated letter of invitation "signed by Phd. "KEN ROBERTS" Convention Coordinator inviting me to their Poetry Symposium August 17-19th 2001 in Washington DC with the hosts being Florence Henderson and Willard Scott! -Their not poets, I thought, and I ignored it, but I was kind of suspicious when the letter was not signed for real, and that they were "honouring me with the "Poet of Merit Award!
I after reading the fine print on the "Registration form, I realise that I am basically, paying the for the honour! A medalion, a plaque, a pin a newsletter subscription, free entry in all convention contests, (THE FIRST PRIZE OF $20.000,00 cash!
Eariler this year, one of their contests, (haiku) won me a mousepad which I have now, but it was supposed to come with a mug and when I e-mailed them they told me the mugs "have been discontinued! I live on the island of Trinidad, West Indies, and I sent them $50USD=$400.00TT! The letter by which they bestow all the "Honours" was again computer signed by Howard Ely, "Managing Editor" I have not yet received my copy of the the anthology, which apperently changed titles THREE TIMES!
Is their any redeeming quality about these people!
I thank you for your through investigations. I look forward to your future consumer complaintss.
Ms. Catherine A. McIntyre
