Bromalite colon cleanse advertised a free trial for the shipping fee of $4.95, which I ordered for a friend.
Before I received the order, I discovered that my bank account was not only charged $4.95, but $34.95 for WuYi Pixie Tea. I did not order this! I called the company and when I explained this, I was told by a company rep I was supposed "uncheck" a box on the site so as not to order the tea. I didn't see this on the site and was furious. I was told my $34.95 would refunded in 10-14 business days and to return the tea once I received it. My account was credited and I just received the order. I have mailed the tea back.
Today, I was reviewing my bank account and noticed a charge of $69.95 from Bromalite. I immediately called the company where a recording indicated I was behind 46 other calls. While waiting, a loop recording repeats that you should go to www.verifyyourorder.com to check on your order or cancel it. Seems odd, huh? Must be a lot of cancellations.
I asked to speak to a manager, but was told by the company representative I was speaking to that she could help me. After explaining my previous call and the cancellation of the tea and that I had not been told to cancel any other order or visit www.verifyyourorder.com during the first call a few weeks ago, the rep asked if I had read the terms & conditions of my order. I thought I had and told her so. She agreed to refund me the $69.95 and cancel my order, but it would take 10-14 business days to receive my refund. I find this egregious.
I then demanded to speak to a manager (Tyson). Minutes later, Tyson came on the line and asked how he could help me. This further irked me because you know he's been informed about an irate customer. When I asked if he knew the nature of my call, he said he did. When I told him I expected a refund immediately (I'll admit my anger was coming through by then), he said there was nothing he could do about the wait... That it would take 10-14 days to get it. He gave me a transaction number. I asked if I also needed to go to www.verifyyourorder.com, too, to cancel the order and he said no.
Buyers beware! Bromalite's web page is misleading: I reviewed the site and at the end of the lengthy www.bromalite.com web page (and the order for the free trial), typed in minuscule type are the following terms:
"Terms & Conditions: (these terms/conditions only apply to the free trial) Start your trial now to receive a full month supply of Bromalite (retails for seventy four dollars). You will have 14 full days from today to evaluate and decide if you wish to keep the remaining 30 day supply and continue receiving Bromalite. If you enjoy Bromalite, simply do nothing. You will be billed the discounted price of only $69.95 at the end of your 14 day trial period for your initial supply. You will be billed $69.95 again 30 days from today for the same amount to replenish your supply of Bromalite and begin your monthly auto shipment program billed $69.95 monthly unless cancelled (this is a savings off the retail price, and is available to you today)...
"i understand that this consumer transaction involves a negative option and that i may be liable for payment of future goods and services, under the terms of this agreement, if i fail to notify the supplier not to supply the goods or services described."
I think this way of doing business is dishonest, disclaimer/terms & conditions or not!
