To cancel your temporary membership requires that you PHONE America On Line and be subjected to long holds and an incredible sales pitch. My "customer support representative" actually demanded that I not interrupt his pitch! I declined and hung up after about 10 minutes on the phone, identifying that he had all the info necessary to verify and cancel my account.
I then e-mailed AOL enclosing the same information. They replied that I MUST speak to a representative, and that my membership remained in force. A reply to that billing e-mail address was not accepted — they use a NON-RESPONDING address!
I have now demanded via a different e-mail address a snailmail address to send a registered notice. If they fail to provide this I will simply send my notice to the President. I am contacting my credit card company to ensure that any attempt to withdraw funds by AOL will be blocked.
This is attempted fraud! Do not deal with aol!!
