I went to Downloads.com to get a free spyware protection download. I thought I was downloading Spyware Search & Destroy and began downloading the program. When it offered me a three year subscription with support, I thought that meant I would be able to contact Spybot Search & Destroy to support me if I got a virus on my computer.
This company is a VERIFIED company with PayPal. This means that PayPal has investigated them and considers them reputable. What a joke. When I did not get my spyware protection and went to PayPal to research where my money went, I called Advance Telecom to refund my money. They took information on the PayPal transaction and then never gave me a refund. I then called them back several times, but as soon as I give my name they hang up on me. I guess my account has been black balled.
I then filed a dispute with Paypal but unfortunately, I did not file the dispute correctly. When you file with PayPal you need to check the "goods not received" box. PayPal then closed my dispute because I filed incorrectly. I then called them back and they have now reopened my claim and we will see what happens. I also stated that they need to investigate Advance Telecom because this is a cell phone company located in Pakistan, not a spyware protection. They have said they will now investigate but I don't hold out much hope. Anyway, I have trust in PayPal to get my money back for me.
I am now going to file a complaint with the FTC since this is wire fraud. Advance Telecom, I am on to you, watch out!!!
