Recovery Mechanic RecoveryMechanic.com diskinternals.com Plimus Worse software ever, fraudulent scam tricks you into buying and doesn't work!

Avoid the following company and websites at all cost, they are a complete SCAM and are fraudulent. They may have more URLS so be careful if ordering any hard drive undelete software from sites that appear similar in nature.

These are the known websites to avoid as they will completely rip you off.

Www.plimus.com this site is the actual processor for these sites. They may or may not know about the scam that the two above sites are involved in. I have notified them of what is going on and we will see if they do anything about it and I will update this posting accordingly.

Here is how the SCAM is working for the two URLs above. They promote they have software that can repair and recover software from a crashed hard drive. They allow you to download it for FREE and see a report that the software generates saying if the software can or cannot recover files from your hard drive.

Well, I had a hard drive crash and found these fraudulent sites using Google. I downloaded the software and ran the scan. It claimed to have found files and would be able to recover them. So, I purchased the software which clearly stated you would receive an immediate download after purchase. This was the first big lie they told. After paying I was received a message that all orders need to be verified and that I would be contacted by email within 48 hours once my order was approved and verified. I immediately contacted them via email (the only option they supply on their site for contact).

It took them over 24 hours to respond and only tell me they would process the order as quickly as they can. They did not address my question as to why do they state IMMEDIATE DOWNLOAD on their site when in fact it is not immediate.

Finally, I get an email with a download link and serial # to activate the software. I download and install the software and activate it with the serial # they provided me and run it. Now, I get the message that while it can see the files it told me it could recover, the files are non recoverable.

I immediately email their support department and here is when the SCAM becomes easy to see. I get no response initially. I am now on day 4 of not having my files that I need since their software lied about being able to recover them. So, I remove my hard drive and replace it with a new one and send the drive out for professional recovery. I email their support department again on day 5 and tell them I am asking for a refund as their product did not work as it said it would.

On day 6 I get a response to please describe why their product doesn't work. So I do, I tell them exactly what happened and that the files were not recoverable even though the software initially reported that they were. Only after I purchased the software did it report that it could not recover the files. I again stated I was requesting a refund.

At this point they became completely rude and unprofessional, the usual first sign of a fraudulent company. We are now on day 10 and they respond that they want to see a screen shot of the software saying the files are not recoverable. I respond and tell them I have already sent the drive out for recovery and why did they wait 10 - 11 days to request a screen shot? Why did they not respond and ask for this back on day 5 when I first reported the problem and requested a refund?

Again, they became even more rude and told me they do not issue refunds and to read their terms. Read their terms? Their software LIED to me about being able to recover something it couldn't, this is just plain FRAUD and a refund should be issued.

I have asked them several times to either explain why they waited 11 days to ask for a screen shot and did they really think anybody buying their software for a hard drive repair would really wait 11 days for an answer from them? They clearly delay and create a window of time so that by the time they ask you for screen shots the average person will have already replaced the drive and moved on from waiting on them. A legitimate company would issue a refund and apologies for the delay, but this SCAM company insists that they will not issue a refund.

I reported to them that I will be filing a report on them and that my bank will be charging them back and their response was they don't care.

This is clearly a fraudulent company and a SCAM operation. Their lack of customer support and caring about if their product works or doesn't clearly shows they are only interested in getting you to pay for their product and when it doesn't do what they promise it would, they just stall and delay and hope you will not fight back to get your money back. Avoid them at all cost.
