Sellers may have history of cheating buyers, yet their feedback will show 95% to 100% positive feedback. Ebay allows sellers with negative feedback to request removal of a negative feedback. Ebay will review the request, and if seller is TECHNICALLY correct in their description, then they will remove the negative feedback, which gives prospective buyers seller has history of 100% honest transactions. For example, seller will say "AS IS; I have no way of testing this..." when item really doesn't work. Seller had rummaged through city dump and found item in garbage. You win item, find its broken & useless, and sale is final because of "AS IS" legal disclaimer. The public must be educated to know that "AS IS" can also mean "item doesn't work, I found this at the dumpster." I'm filing this because my roommate got taken by "AS IS" listed item, and seller claimed it worked fine when he packaged it, and likely damaged in transit by US Post Office.
We opened to inspect internal mechanism, and found broken gear to indicate it was never working to begin with. Look at how many sellers are listing "AS IS" items, and show close to 100% positive feedback. If item says "AS IS, " pass on this one, or risk getting taken advantage of. To prevent members from warning each other of cheating sellers, Ebay now blocks the username of all bidders. Ebay claims its to stop fraudulent 2nd-chance offers, when it also prevents concerned members from warning others of cheating sellers. Ebay generates more $ when a sale is made, as opposed to just the listing fees when no one buys an item. This is why they allow cheating sellers to continue their practice on Ebay.
