I learned the hard way that buying from a non-reputable online retailer can be costly. Apparently, somewhere in the fine print of a purchase from an online toy store there was a statement saying that I would be charged $9.95 a month to belong to a shopping club. I just noticed it on my bill this month. Thankfully my loss was less than $30. After looking at the site, it's apparent that this company's primary source of income is the credit card scam that customers actually agree too.
I called the toll free number for Shopping Essentials Plus and spoke to a very nice service rep who refunded my last $9.95 bill and canceled my account. She referred me to her supervisor who refused to do anything about the other charges.
I learned on the complaint that I'm not the first to be caught in this net. Unfortunately, I can't tell you which or how many sites are tied in with Shopping Essentials Plus, but I can tell you to only purchase from online retailers and never through a third party site.
I wish the best of luck to the thousands who have likely spent much more than me because of this disreputable company.
