Circuit City refunded a 8800 GTS video card 2 days ago.
After receiving a "new video card" from best buy, which was a used one boxed "as new" i returned that and went to circuit city to see if they were doing the same thing.
I looked thru the store in the "open box" items and it was no where to be seen.
Then I had a feeling that circuit city is also corrupt and looking thru the cards I noticed that one had the serial number on the card removed, and the seals on one side was broken.
I also documented the serial number on my cellphone which was on the box of the graphics card, and it was the same number which I had registered with the EVGA company.
So I asked to talk with the supervisor. He says he has worked there for 4 years and assures me they do not do that there because "its against company's rules"
I just looked at him in a way that indicated I knew he was lying, then he told one of the floor workers to take that card in back for a full emanation's.
I stuck around a little while and they just kept it in back.
Well as of today I'm done with them too...
I guess the only place that you can count on getting something at face vaule when it comes to electronics is a thrift store... You know you will always be getting used.
At least in this case I wasn't ripped off, but don't be the sucker to buy used stuff at this place! Look for the seals and better yet shop somewhere else to begin with and/or order factory direct, even though something makes me think that the same things go on there too.
