A follow-up to the above story-I did get a refund in the end, but they started charging me again. I rang them and they said the same; they could not help me unless I had the customer number. After a long explanation that this was their fault, not mine, and their job to fix it, they agreed to refund again and close the account-for the third time. BUT: the customer care supervisor refused to speak to me, I had to go mad at them to get them to realise their responsibility, and the cc dept is useless-they put you on hold, transfer you to the wrong people and follow very rigid guidelines and show no respect for customer. BT Ireland is not aware of the fact that they're providing a service, and it does not seem that BTIre is nothing more than a scam hiding behind a respectable name. I'd not be surprised if this is not over yet...
