The HughesNet Scam is Tantamount to Fraud

We subscribed to a two year contract for business users at HughesNet.com. For the first year, we received the service without issue. Then, we started getting speeds as low as 4K down and 55K up which was worse than dial-up.

When we notified customer service, one guy told me that they had simply down-graded my service without charging me less. Since we were not at our studio for six months, this could have been going on for a very long time. I then began to keep track of my download speeds. (See speeds below.)

One month passed. Another man called and said they were still working on the problem and that it was a problem that was affecting ALL of their business customers. If this is true: if they are charging all their business customers $200 a month for prolonged periods of time and providing speeds that are worse than dial up, then what we are looking at maybe tip of a very fraudulent iceberg.

Today, I cancelled my service. To add insult to injury they charged me $300 to get out of my contract! A contract that they have not honored for almost one year.

Their workers are skilled at avoidance. They will do anything to string you along. Be careful of this scam!
