I bought a Gateway Laptop form Circuit City a few years ago and purchaced an exstended warrenty for it while I was there. I ended up getting deployed and took my computer with me while serving my country. While there my computer crashed and quit working all together.
I contacted Circuit City about the problem and they told me to f-disk it. When I informed them that I couldnt even turn the computer on they told me to send it in. I instead installed a newer copy of Windows XP which solved the problem for a short time.
I then started having problems with corrupt files and not being able to burn information onto cd's. Calling Circuit City once again I got the same answer which was to f-disk the whole thing. Time and time again they had me roll back drivers and restore the computer.
Now I have been fighting with them and the computer all the time. Now that I have 6 months left on the warrenty they told me that they would make the attempt to fix my computer. The bad part about this is that when I told Circuit City about the hard drive having problems they didnt beleave me untill I held the phone next to the hard drive and they heard for themselves the crazy noise that it made while doing anything.
You've got to love the way they hold you off to the end of everything. Now I have to wait for them to send me a box to send my computer to them then wait 10 days to get it back. The kicker is is that if its not fixed completly by the time the warrenty expires Im out a laptop. I think from now on I will build all my own computers regardless of the price cause atleast I know what I need to do to fix them.
