I have been scammed out of $2900 from EBAY. I am going to share my story with you in hopes that you can investigate and share it with everyone else. Here's my story..
My husband has wanted a new 4 wheeler. His birthday is coming up May 11th. I have been searching for the right deal. I wanted a good 4 wheeler at a reasonable rate. I searched on craigslist.com and found exactly what I was looking for. It was a 2004 yamaha grizzly 680 for $2700. I contacted the guy via email. He responded saying that he wanted the deal to go through EBAY because buyer and seller were protected upto $20,000. He said that he would do a private sale and I could buy it. I agreed to this. I checked into EBAY and the protection and the guy was correct.
I clicked "buy this item"
It then instructed me to send the money through western union to the named ebay agent. I contacted ebay because I was not safe doing the western union. Ebay contacted me back stating that the sale was legit and that the seller didn't get his money until we received the item. I will forward you these emails. I also went directly through ebay to ask my question. I will forward you the message that I forwarded to my email account.
I was told it was protected.
Well, a week later ebay sends me an email that they are having a problem that the item number that I purchased did not exist. Upset, I looked everywhere for a number to EBAY and couldn't find anything. I decided to do the live chat through ebay. After explaining what happened and waiting on hold for 12 minutes, the live chat told me that they could not help me. We then called western union. My husband had to show his ID to send the transfer so you would think that the person picking it up would have to show their id. The money was already picked up on April 30th. They gave us a number to call for ebay.
FINALLY, we found a number to a real person with EBAY. EBAY said that if we call that number again that they would just hang up on us that you have to go through live chat only.
We have filed a police report with Friendswood.
Is there anyway that you can look into this? I don't want anyone else hurt like we were hurt.
