I signed up with PrivacyMatters123 to see my credit reports for a charge of $1.00. Money was subtracted from my bank account in the amount of $39.99. They signed me up for some service that I did not agree to purchase.
My bank (Bank of America) has a fraud service for their cards. I called them and they will file a claim. I will get the $39.99 back. They cancelled my debit card and will issue a new one for me (in the meantime I will get a temporary card to use until the new card arrives).
The bank was understanding and very helpful.
I imagine other banks have the same services. One should call them as soon as one sees the bloated sum.
