Ripoff Deceitful Business Practices

I received an unsolicited email for a Free (yea right) cd from the www.thegrantassistant.com that claims that the government is just giving away money. So I decided to give it a try, I filled out my name and address and then submitted my info and it took me to another page that told me to put my credit card in to pay $1.97 for Shipping and Handling. I decided what the heck, and did it. Two weeks later I noticed a charge on my credit card for $29.95 from Ashton Management and Consulting in American Fork, UT. I didn't know what the charge was for and tried to get a hold of this Ashton Management and Consulting. After being unable to get a hold of them by phone I decided to drive by the address listed on my statement. There was no business there.

It didn't even occur to me that this had anything to do with thegrantassistant.com because the address on the CD was in Las Vegas, NV (which ended up being a mail forwarding company) until after I finally got through to someone from Ashton Consulting who told me that the charge was for some resource center that I signed up for online. I went back to thegrantassistant.com and looked for something that told me that I had signed up for a resource center and couldn't find anything about an additional charge. I ended seeing it on the Terms and Conditions page, who looks at the terms and conditions page. I feel like the deceitfully used me and want to warn anyone not to be fooled by thegrantassitant.com
