On 3/29/07 I responded to an Email from thegrantassistant.com.in the Email and the website they suggested that I ought to order a CD, pay postage of $1.97 for a special limited amount of time, and then review the program for 2 weeks. If I liked what I saw, I could opt in to a membership (prices of membership were not announced) - and if I didn't like it or was unable to use it, there would be no further charges.
Then today, 4/16/07, I happened to go to my credit card company's website because I lost my wallet in Feb. And am keeping an eye on my accounts. There, bold as all get out, was a charge from that sneaky rip-off artist for $47.50! I was astonished.
I searched for their website and filled in an online Email form telling them I'd seen no warning of the charge in their fine print, that I was going to dispute the charge with my credit card company, and they ought to credit my account immediately. What a scam they're running!
Now, please realize that I have seen this type of scam before - they count on you forgetting to "give notice" and of course THEY don't notify you before they charge your card. However, in this case, I didn't see anything on the presenting pages that warned of the additional charge - it was buried in FAQs somewhere! Also, I tried to call the number listed for thegrantassistant.com in my credit card statement, but the number AUTOMATICALLY DISCONNECTS!
Consequently, I called my credit provider and they removed the charge and put it in an "investigatory" status - I suggest anyone who signs up for that Grant Assistant service check their credit card charges daily and to definitely give written notice before 14 days after you order... I've told you, because you won't see it in any of the materials you read from that source... Unless you read every page on the site! Buyer Beware!
