Classmates
Ripoff, no privacy, they will share your personal info. Beware!

I signed up for a free account with classmates.com just out of interest about information concerning classmates and reunions.

One day I made the mistake of clicking on one of their advertisements. It claimed I'd won a prize, so I went further and filled out the forms. When it came to the part of them wanting my credit card info, I closed the browser window.

That day, I started receiving SPAM mail in excess. Since that day, I've received from 50-100 SPAM mails per day.

I contacted classmates.com via their customer service link on their site to let them know one of their advertisers was collecting email addresses and sending out SPAM mail with that info, even though the registration process for the advertiser had not been completed.

Their response was an apology, and they canceled my classmates.com account, even though I'd never asked them to.

I wrote them back letting them know I'd not asked to have my account canceled. They did re-instate my account.

Recently, I received an email with a relatives name on it from namesdatabase. It appeared to be a national database for people to group all of their contacts together on one site. As I read the info, I noticed at the bottom, it made referece to classmates.com.

I wrote my relative an email letting him know I'd had problems with classmates.com not keeping personal information private. He responded saying he'd never heard of namesdatabase, but that he'd also had issues with classmates.com

It appears that classmates.com does NOT keep your personal contact information private at all, and either sells it, or uses it in branches of their own company.

So, beware! If you sign up with classmates.com. Your personal information will most likely be shared with other internet entities. And by no means should you ever click on one of their advertisements and provide any personal information.
