I made a purchase advertising a television episode download for $0.99. After finding that (a) this might be questionable from a legal standpoint and (b) that I was charged $52.63 which is not the amount I initially agreed to, I phoned the company to cancel the purchase, within 12 hours after making the purchase. After being harassed for canceling, I was refunded my money except for a $10 cancellation fee which I disputed, since nowhere on the invoice or purchase order page was such a cancellation fee discussed. I asked for a company manager and it turns out there are none. I asked for a corporate name: there is no corporate entity, according to the individuals I spoke with! (That would be Ron, aka Agent 20 or Dave.) I asked for a company mailing address, and the individuals are not allowed to give out that information! I asked for an e-mail address where I could write to, only to find out that there is no e-mail address available. I repeatedly asked for a Refund Reference Number and for cancellation of the $10 cancellation fee and was not given either the reference amount of the refund of the cancellation charge until I said I would register a complaint with the Attorney General's Office.
All my attempts to find a corporate entity behind these web sites were met with hostility and I was unable to get any information beyond a fax number, which is 1-888-234-7486. I am quite concerned that this entity, or entities whatever the case are not on the level and warrant more investigation. I have never before dealt with a company that could not provide Reference Numbers immediately upon request, or supervisor's names, or corporate phone numbers, corporate mailing addresses or the actual and true name of the company and location of the company. I did a bit of investigating of my own (too late...). I Googled the telephone number 1-888-240-2481 and found scores of results complaining about fraudulent activities relating to these various enterprises, including those on usacomplaints.com. I also discovered yet another corporate entity using that same phonenumber, mp3downloading.com/mdn/contactus.Asp, which lists its address as MP3 Networks Ltd. Armory building #3909, St-Kitts, Basseterre/Malta. While Malta and St. Kitts have diplomatic relations, they aren't a shared island! This is not a legitimate address. Malta is in the Mediterranean and St. Kitts is in the Caribbean. Something isn't right here.
