I had signed up with NetZero VOIP service Unlimited Plan for $14.95 per month with 3 months free on 2/17. I still had to provide my credit card information which I know isn't unusual. I had planned on keeping the service anyway if it worked out. Everything seemed great until yesterday 2/24 when my service was disconnected. It has been a real life horror movie since then.

They have evidenatlly allowed something to happen with my credit card information, but they won't tell me what happened.

They turned off my service for "unusual activity" on my account. It took me tons of emails and 3 different customer service people to even get that answer. I was told everyhing from we can't tell you, to we randomly do this with customer accounts to verify them to we don't know either you have to email so and so.

Supposedly they can't give me any details. I finally got a guy who told me that there have been international calls on my account. Then he said the owner of the credit card reported the charges as false. I AM the card holder and I hadn't reported anything to do with NetZero, not until today anyway. My credit company told me today that there have been no complaints. They keep saying they can't give me any details. Just a reference number of 028519097 to give to my local police.

What are the police going to do with a number and nothing else? Nothing of course. They can't do anything with just a number and no information. I can't even tell them what it is I am reporting for God's sake. I thought this might be an opportunity to get a real number for someone who can actually do something. He said the police can call the customer service line and ask. ROFL! Do what? Are these people for real?

Then the guy actually tells me to fax a copy of my credit card to him. Huh? I don't know whether to laugh or cry this is so ridiculous. Yeah right. You go over to the fax machine and wait right there. I'll get that copy over to you right away.

In the midst of this madness I see they also sell customers information too. At the very least names and email addresses anyway. Hmmm... Doesn't that violate their so caled "privacy policy"? How do I know this?

When you sign up for this VOIP service they automatically give you a netzero email account. I had never used it nor had I intended to. Well, while I have been waiting around hoping for some type of response to my emails inquiries and requests (which have never come by the way) I decided to look through that email inbox to see if by some miracle they had sent a response there. No suck luck! I did however have tons of spam. Wow! That was quick. This account is less than a week old and I haven't used it. But then. Imagine my surprise when I opened 1 or 2 and they are addressing me by name.

I have reported all of this to the BBB and my credit card company. All I can say is good luck if you decide to use this company.
