When I bought movie tickets off of movietickets.com, I was unknowingly signed up for a so-called "benefits" program in affiliation with Webloyalty.com, Inc. This company, also known as reservationrewards.com, proceeded to bill me $9.00 US for every month I was unknowingly holding an account with them. Unfortunately, I didn't catch this for 3 months.
This company operates by affiliating itself with well-known internet retailers like movietickets.com, 1-800-Flowers, priceline.com, and many others. When consumers make a purchase from one of these sites, they are unknowingly signed up for a so-called rewards program. This "rewards" program charges the consumer nine dollars a month in return for offering "discounts" on items that they purchase on the sites that they are affiliated. All of this is done under the consumer's nose. Most, like myself, never realize that they've been scammed until the charge appears on their credit card bill.
This sort of thing is absolutely outrageous, and is billing fraud, plain and simple.
