Jeff Paul and Mentoring of America, LLC has some interesting marketing and sales practices. A guy by the name of TROY THOMAS
(probably not his real name) kept calling me after I purchased the kit for 29.95. He finally got ahold of me and gave me some promising sales pitch about how they wanted to help me. I asked them why they would choose to have Jeff Paul, Shawn Casey and Jim something or other work with me. They said they were a publically traded company and needed to prove to the FTC on a yearly basis that they had success stories. I said it sounded good that they wanted to work with me to become successful.
He said that they had three levels: 12-15K, 10-12K, and 8-10K. He said that with my amount of debt I should probably go with the third one. He said that we would put it on as many credit cards as we could to make up the 9895.00 total they were charging me for the MENTORING.
He then turned me over to his supervisor TYLER TRUMAN. He gave me this full pitch, charged my credit cards and said that he needed to turn me over to customer service to confirm everything.
He did that but at no time did anyone ever say that there were no refunds!!!
One day later a personal situation came up that would prevent me from pursuing this program. A day after that I found all kinds of information on this companies fraudulent activities. I decided with my circumstances that I needed to cancel the program.
I called customer service who kept me on hold for over 8 minutes to find my "file". The agent said that she would have to have my sales rep contact me. I knew at this point that it wasnt going to be easy to cancel.
TYLER TRUMAN called me several times and when I came home from work he finally got in touch with me. I explained my personal issue and said I wanted to cancel, then came the hard sell.
He said, "I cant give you a refund". I asked him why and he said, "Because I want to work with you" "Give it 30 days and if you still arent satisfied then Ill refund your money". Then he said something that made me realize that he really was part of a giant fraud program. "This is just between you and me" he said in reference to the refund after 30 days.
Judging from what I read on here I realized that If I had decided to do the 30 days then at the end I would never be able to get ahold of this piece of garbage and customer service would say "Oh we have no record of a possible refund".
I told the Disgusting liar that I had to discuss it with my husband and promptly called my credit card companies. They said the charge hadnt been cleared yet and they couldnt throw up a dispute yet. He called me at least 6 times while I was on the phone (I have call waiting ID) trying to talk to me about going foward. He said that I would need to confirm again that he was going to work with me. I havent heard from him again but if I do Im going to let him have it.
In the meantime an enrollment confirmation arrived via FEDEX that required my signature and the date. It basically outlines what I was supposed to be getting with the program. I never sent it in but figure if my credit card company asked for an invoice about what I was getting I would be able to show them.
I instructed anyone in my home that if another fedex package arrives to decline delivery. I have also contacted the FTC and filled a complaint. I am also willing to contact my State Attorney and the Utah State Attorney if my credit card companies dont comply with my request to remove the charge. I have not accepted any materials or mentoring sessions and they never stated the refund policy until I asked for one.
What else can I do to ensure I get a refund? Any suggestions will be helpful. This company are a bunch of frauds who take advantage of people. Jeff paul or whoever the hell runs this company should be in jail!!!
