COMPAQ Bad hard drive one month over warranty ripoff

I purchased a compaq presario 5000series in December. Exactly one month after my one year warranty expired, I started having problems with the computer. The computer started "freezing", at any given time. I sent it to my Compaq service center, and I was informed that it needs a new hard drive, at the cost of $205.00. I find this hard to believe that a year old computer, has a bad hard drive, without there being some sort of defect to it. I'm totally dissapointed in COMPAQ, and this is the first time I've written concerning this news I recieved about my computer. Even though I know it's over warranty, but ONLY BY ONE MONTH... When this problem occured, I feel it should be taken into consideration for COMPAQ to refund me my money for this new hard drive, or some other way of showing their concern also. If I don't hear from COMPAQ either way regarding my incident, I will never consider buying another COMPAQ computer, or even recommending one to anyone I know either. Based on response to this email. I gave the OK to the technician at this service center to go ahead and put a new hard drive in, because I see no way of having a computer to use, that needs a new one, and I will pay for this, but I would like compaq to really consider refunding part or partially for something that should NEVER have gone bad, in one year.
